Sitka Public Library offers printed lists of the Read Harder Challenge for teens and adults, an annual reading journey organized by Book Riot. The 24-task challenge, designed to help readers break out of their reading bubble and expand their worldview through books, runs for the year and participants can join at any time. CBS Pandemic Grant Programs for Businesses and Nonprofits
The City and Borough of Sitka is now accepting grant applications from Sitka businesses and nonprofit organizations that have experienced severe economic impacts due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The deadline to apply for these grants is October 31st. Grant awards are anticipated in November, and all funds must be expended by December 30th, 2020. Separate applications for the business and nonprofit grants, guidelines and answers to questions are available on the CBS website, www.cityofsitka.org. Applicants are strongly encouraged to use the downloadable forms as they include auto-calculation fields to help determine eligibility, and the potential grant amounts for the business applicants. Register for the AK Food Festival & Conference
Registration is open for the 2020 Alaska Food Festival and Conference, which is going virtual on Friday and Saturday, Nov 6 – 7, this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a pre-conference movie on Thursday, Nov 5th.
