Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The permanent fund dividend is expected to hit Alaskan bank accounts this week.

News of the North reached out to Genevieve Wojtusik, Legislative Liaison at Department of Revenue, for details,

"Alaskans should expect their direct deposit payments this week. The PFD division is working diligently with our financial partners to complete all transactions necessary to pay a dividend by the end of this week some Alaskans My PFD records who have been determined eligible and are in paid status for this year is 2021 Direct Deposit dividend payments are showing a deposit date of October 14," said Wojtusik. "Because each financial institution has a different timeline, and with the Federal holiday yesterday, we are hopeful that Alaskans will see the funds in their accounts before the end of this week."

residents not receiving direct deposit can expect their checks to come the week of Oct. 25.

Wojtusik also talked about the staffing shortage leading to the closure of some PFD offices,

"We had some staffing shortage issues, and the Anchorage and Fairbanks offices are closed currently, but our phone queues are open as always 10 am to 4 pm, and the Juneau branch is open 10 to four as well," said Wojtusik.

She says the shortage will not have an effect on the distribution of the checks.
