55 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in state

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - 51 resident cases and four non-resident cases were confirmed today leaving Alaska with 1,323 total resident cases and 258 non-resident cases.

    The Friday report from the Department of Health and Social Services showed 22 new cases in Anchorage, six on the Kenai Peninsula, 16 in the Fairbanks Northstar Borough, four in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, two in Nome and one in Juneau.

    Juneau now has 47 resident cases.

    The report also showed 22 percent of the total resident cases were between the ages of 20 and 29.

    The report had 588 patients recovered, 718 active cases, 80 total hospitalizations and 17 deaths.

    Southeast has 20 active cases and a total of 96 resident cases and 34 non-resident cases.

    The state went on to report that 793 hospital beds, 67 intensive care beds, and 266 ventilators are available.

    There are 656 people hospitalized, 102 people in intensive care, and 18 ventilators are in use in Alaska.
