Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - 932 Alaskan high school students have been selected to receive the $12,000 UA Scholars Award to use at any University of Alaska campus.
The students come from nearly 250 high schools across Alaska.
In order to be eligible for the award, students must be ranked within the top ten percent of their class at the end of their Junior year.
On December 2, the University of Alaska will host a virtual recognition event honoring the class of 2022 UA Scholars.
Since its inception, the scholarship program has awarded more than $60 million in academic support.
The scholarships are funded by the University of Alaska Land Grant Trust Fund.
The UA Scholars Program was established in 1999 to encourage Alaska students to attend and graduate from college in their home state, and while the award is specific to UA, students can use the funds to study abroad, or nationally through the National Student Exchange program.
