Former CBJ Port Engineer Gary Gillette and Port Director Carl Uchytil

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The CBJ Docks and Harbors Department is poised to hire a replacement for former Port Engineer Gary Gillette who retired recently.

Port Director Carl Uchytil was asked for an update on filling the position while a guest on Action Line Wednesday morning.    He said the question was well-timed since his selection committee was scheduled to interview two finalists for the position later in the day.  He was hoping the name of the successful candidate can be made by the end of the day.  He chose not to reveal their names at this point.

Uchytil said the position was advertised for about three weeks and netted good, quality candidates
