Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau Assembly will discuss options surrounding the potential purchase of a building to provide space for a cold-weather shelter at tonight’s Committee of the Whole meeting at 5 p.m.

The meeting will also be on Facebook Live and can be viewed later.
The City and Borough of Juneau originally issued a building solicitation proposal on July 14 with a July 28 deadline.
The solicitation period was then reopened on Aug. 19 with an Aug. 26 deadline. On Sept. 9, CBJ staff facilitated a public meeting to provide information on the possible building acquisition and get feedback from the community.
Approximately 90 viewers attended the Zoom meeting with 27 people providing public comment. These comments, as well as correspondence sent directly to staff, have been compiled and included in the agenda item.
Additionally, copies of a brief survey for shelter users were delivered to the shelter operators and the campground.
