Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Many eyes will be on the legislative hearing Monday regarding the sudden and abrupt termination of Angela Rodell as CEO of the Alaska permanent fund.
Rodell says her firing was politically motivated
Juneau Senator Jesse Kiehl was asked for his reaction while a guest on Action Line.
"I am, I am deeply, deeply concerned, of all the places you can't afford to play political games and have a hatchet-man like Greg Richards swinging axes for political reasons, the Permanent Fund is the place you've got to keep above that."
and says he knows of no performance issues on the matter.
"Now, I've talked to a lot of people. There is clearly not a job performance issue in terms of managing the team of investment professionals, the permanent fund met or exceeded every benchmark, you talk about a manager effect, right? That's what you're looking for, I have not seen any individual personnel file, if there is some detail out there that needed a corrective action plan or required, counseling or job performance improvement, I don't know about it," he said. "So the permanent fund board is going to come in front of a legislative committee here early next week, and they've got some serious questions to answer."
The Legislative Budget & Audit committee hearing is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday.
