Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Timothy Young, 54, entered a guilty plea to charges of misconduct involving weapons in the third-degree, and assault in the third-degree for firing a flare gun inside an apartment and firing a bolt-action rifle, busting out a window.

The incident occurred at Coho Apartments on November 6, 2019.

Young had originally been charged with attempted murder.

The prosecution dismissed charges of assault in the second-degree and two counts of assault in the third-degree in the case.

Young will also serve four years on probation.

Juneau police said a 61-year-old man was able to wrestle the flare gun away from Young during the incident but was injured in the process.

Young was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Daniel Schally Friday.
