Open burning in Valley ends this week

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Open Burn Season is Almost Snuffed Out.

    Capital City Fire Rescue wants to remind residents that the open burn season for 2021 coming to an end.

    The official last day for open burning is September 30, 2021, if you live in the Lemon Creek and Mendenhall Valley areas.

    The season will open again May 1, 2022 for those areas.

    All other areas are allowed to have open burning however you must have a current and valid open burn permit.
