Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Board of education met Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 6 pm. The meeting began with recognition of outgoing board members, Kevin Allen and Paul Kelly, and the swearing-in of incoming members, Elizabeth Siddon, Amber Frommherz, and Will Muldoon.
The newly sworn-in board members expressed their thoughts at the end of their first meeting.
"I had fun. I don't feel overwhelmed, I think that I'll get my legs under me and maybe trip up a little bit more as the meetings proceed but looking forward to Saturday and it's been nice to meet everyone and look forward to working with everybody. Thank you," said Will Muldoon.
Amber Frommherz is excited,
"I look forward to all these meetings, I just want to, I was quick enough earlier to mention that, that I do appreciate the land acknowledgment, I think that is timely, you know, better late than never. And that means a lot that we were able to move at. So, with that said I just like Will I'm excited to hit the ground running, to see everyone again, and to read all these emails," said Frommherz.
The board voted on open officer positions,
Elizabeth Siddon was voted in as President, Brian Holst was voted in as vice-president, and Emil Mackey was voted in as Clerk.
The Board passed a policy on a land acknowledgment and heard reports from numerous committees.
