Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau Symphony has performances planned for June and a youth string camp planned for August.
Beth Pendelton, a member of the Juneau Symphony Board is very excited to invite members of the community to join the Symphony for a night at the Oscars.
She also has information about their Summer String Camp coming up in August.
"On June 11th and 12th, the Juneau Symphony will be featuring a night at the Oscars. The 11th is a Saturday night and then the 12th is a Sunday afternoon matinee. We have a guest conductor, Troy Quinn, who's going to be leading that. We're going to have a large orchestra, it's going to be popular show tunes and movie tunes. So, it should be music that the audience is going to be really excited to hear. The other thing that we have going this summer is the Summer Strings camp. This is for youth in elementary school and the first year of middle school. It's going to be up at Eagle Crest. We had a very successful camp last summer and we're looking forward to welcoming young strings players to the camp. They'll get some great instruction from some of our finest strings teachers here in town with the JAM program and also with the symphony. So looking forward to that. If folks are interested, in either tickets for the upcoming Oscars concert, or signing up for the strings camp, they can reach out to juneausymphony.org.," Pendelton says.
