    Juneau Police Chief Ed Mercer

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - There was good news from Juneau Police Chief Ed Mercer while a guest on Action Line regarding the recruitment of officers.

He offered jobs to three people earlier this month.  Two are local residents and another is from Texas.  He said they are entry-level applicants and will attend the Public Safety Academy in Sitka.

So he said the department is only down five officers at this time.

And the chief had more good news about the staffing of his dispatch center.  he said they are fully staffed there.

The department also hired a call taker and is looking for another.
