State releases COVID numbers for Saturday

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 195 new COVID-19 cases Saturday.

    The state said that included one new case in Juneau, the only case reported in Southeast.  It also reported one new nonresident case in Juneau related to the seafood industry.  

    No recent deaths were cited in this latest report from the state so the death toll remains at 228.

    There have been a total of 1,129 hospitalizations, but no new hospitalizations were cited in this latest report.

    The state says there are currently 63 patients now hospitalized with another four who are under investigation for a total of 67 COVID related hospitalizations.  Nine of the patients are on ventilators.

Visitors are to maintain social distance and wear a mask when that isn’t possible while in the facility.
