
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Thunder Mountain High School girls soccer team honored their senior players on Thursday night at Falcons Stadium but the visiting Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears celebrated a 7-0 win.
JDHS led 2-0 after the first half with a goal by senior Brooke Sanford unassisted and another by sophomore Cadence Plummer assisted by senior Ella Goldstein.
JDHS senior Kyla Bentz scored four goals in the second half, two assisted by classmate Sophia Pugh, one by classmate Blake Plummer and one by Sanford.
Pugh scored the game’s final goal unassisted and earned the Crimson Bears Hard Hat Award.
TMHS honored senior players Jade Blackwell, Abigail Booton, Molly Brocious, MaryEllen Bryson, Kiah Dihle, Ruchi Haight, Jamie Heidersdorf, Grace Hudson, Naomi Olver, Rayna Gehring, Julia Robinson and manager Solveig Wolter.
Robinson, who is injured, was allowed the honor of playing the ceremonial opening kick.
JDHS will host the Ketchikan Lady Kings at 5:15 p.m. tonight and 5:15 p.m. Saturday. Both games are on the Adair Kennedy pitch.
