Little League Majors Baseball Tournament Begins Thursday

    The Gastineau Channel Little League Majors Division All-Stars begin district tournament play on Thursday at Miller Field.

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Southeast Alaska Little League Majors Division Baseball District Tournament, the original gathering of 10-12 year olds that resulted in the establishment of the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, begins on Thursday at Miller Field.

      The tourney features Juneau’s Gastineau Channel Little League, Sitka Little League and Ketchikan Little League.

      The 2021 Juneau GCLL Major All-Stars are Keaton Belcourt, Hunter Carte, Brenner Harralston, Parker Katasse, Isaac Kirsch, Noah Lewis, KB Lim, Henry Maier, Drew Cadigan-McAdoo, Micah Nelson, Ryker Nelson, Vinny Nizich and Andrew Sanders. Juneau’s manager is Jacob Dutton and coaches are Jaysen Katasse and Jason McAdoo.

      The 2021 Sitka Major All-Stars are Josh Partido, James Nellis, Colton McGraw, Olen Weathers, Coulter Bird, Wyatt Conforti, Jude Gluth, Chase Haskins, Fisher Steinso, Weston Allred, Cooper Smith, Pierce Kohler-Kainulainen and Gunnar Ojala. Sitka manager is Stu Weathers. Coaches are Sam Smith and Tony Conforti.

      The 2021 Ketchikan Majors All-Stars are Wyatt Balluta, Ayden Manabat, Ace Asper, Julian Paule, Charles Kroscavage, Zyrus Manabat, Paxton Swaim, Finn Winder, Haydn McMahon, Trevan Secrest, Max Davis, David Pattison and Jonas Simpson. Ketchikan manager is Michael Swaim. Coaches are Mike McMahon and Azariah Schultz.

      Single games begin the series to establish seeding for a double elimination tournament format. All games are at Miller Field.

      On Thursday Juneau plays Ketchikan at 6 p.m. On Friday Ketchikan plays Sitka at 6 p.m., and on Saturday Sitka plays Juneau at 2 p.m.

      Double elimination play begins with single games starting on Sunday at 2 p.m. and going through the 28th.

      The tournament winner advances to the Little League Alaska State Tournament at Anchorage, July 31-August 5. Subsequent winners advance to the Little League Regionals in San Bernardino, California, August 8-14 and the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, August 19-29.
