Tlingit Thumpers, MILK Win Annual Hoops Tournament

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Five team champions were crowned this past weekend in the 12th Annual Preseason 3v3 Tournament at Thunder Mountain High School.

      Twenty-six teams participated across five divisions with players ranging in age from seven to 18. The divisions are based on school grade. 

      Friday night featured three round robin warm-up games, with Saturday being a double elimination tournament. Games were played to 15 points by 1's and 2's.

    “The games were competitive and energetic,” tournament director John Blasco said in an email. “It was great to see the kids back in the gym competing and having fun together.” 

      In the 6th and Under division there were five teams and Alaska Ballers were the last standing. They are Isaiah Bean-Dewitt, Jamie Randolph, Vinny Nizich and Jordan Geary.

      In the 7th and 8th division there were three teams and OTH came out on top. They are Dylan Watts, Eli Dybdahl, Joran Gasga and Brandon Casperson.

      In the 9th & 10th division there were four teams. Crippin Crusaders took the title. They are Jhowel Estigoy, TJ Guevarra, Krishna Sanguni and Owen Adams.

      In the 11th & Older division there were 10 teams and Tlingit Thumpers topped the court. They are Sean Oliver, Joey Aline, OJ Dybdahl and Alwen Carrilo.

      In the Girls division (7th-12th) there were four teams and MILK won the tourney. They are Izzy Waters, Kiyara Miller, Mariah Schauwecker and Larissa Dybdahl.
